Back in 2013, our 3D artist Ashley Taylor wondered what would happen if some giant Christmas baubles were pushed down Lincoln's famous Steep Hill. With his background in CGI animations, he was in the unusual position of bringing that daydream to life! Now, around 10 years later, the video has proved incredibly popular with the people of Lincolnshire (and beyond) racking up over 100 thousand views in social media.
Here's a little insight into how he created it
All the scenes in the video (apart from the first two) are created with photographs, not video. In this photo Ash has removed the wonky lamppost from the photo and is about to remove loads of Christmas shoppers from the image too. After this he had to put in a 3D lamppost to complete the animation, along with all those baubles of course
Ash created a 3D model of the wonky lamppost to put into the animation, in this image he is making sure the 3D lamppost is as wonky as its real life counterpart, and look, no shoppers!
Creating the tiny baubles that shoot out of the cat's hole on Steep Hill. The tinkling noise we added here is from a windchime.
Ash took the photographs and videos using a Canon E0S 7D, the software used was Photoshop, Cinema 4D and Adobe Premier.

You may remember his other recent animation, a quirky animated model of the city's landmarks, designed to play on an infinite loop with steampunk-style cogs turning in the background.
